Title: OECD lowers euro area growth forecasts, warns of debt crisis spill over
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said debt crisis is intensifying and “may materialize and spill over outside the euro area with very serious consequences for the global economy.” The OECD left its growth forecasts for the global economy steady at 1.6% this year on expectations the improvement in the U.S. economy would dwarf the deterioration in the euro region. As for the euro area, the OECD lowered its growth forecasts to 0.1% contraction this year from November`s forecasts of 0.2% growth and 0.9% expansion in 2013 from prior forecast of 1.4% expansion. Italy and Spain are expected to record a contraction of 1.7% and 1.6% this year respectively, where they will record a contraction of 0.4% and 0.8% next year. In Germany, a growth of 1% this year and 1. ...

Title: Euro Rebounds, Focus On The UK Inflation
The euro (EUR) edged higher to 1.2824 rebounding from 1.2724 against the US dollar on hopes that EU leaders will agree on steps to fight the debt crisis in Europe. Investors expect the French President Francois Hollande to suggest joint eurozone bonds at the EU meeting in Brussels on May 23. The idea of joint bonds can help with funding difficulties for some heavily-indebted eurozone countries but that policy has been rejected by Germany before. EU leaders are also expected to focus more on growth and ways to help Greece stay in the euro. The single currency remains under pressure as the market is worried about Spain’s growing financial problems as well as developments in Greece ahead of a repeat election in June. The US dollar (USD) stumbles against a basket of currencies on an improved ...

Title: Shares gain on hopes of action over EU crisis
(Reuters) - European shares joined a global rally in riskier assets on Tuesday and German bond prices fell as hopes grew that European leaders would agree on fresh action to tackle the debt crisis while promoting growth. Sentiment also improved after reports emerged from China that Beijing will accelerate infrastructure investment to combat slowing growth. The FTSE Eurofirst .FTEU3 index of top European shares opened up 0.5 percent at 979.55 points, extending a recovery from five-month lows hit on Monday. MSCI's global equity index .MIWD00000PUS rose 0.5 percent to 302.89 and back into positive territory for the year. Title: Asia Session: Europe, Europe And More Europe
Nervousness underpinned price action today. Despite voices from throughout Europe attempting to reassure the market that Greece will remain in the euro, stock markets in Asia didn't significantly build on their opening gains and the euro slowly drifted lower throughout the session. Why is the market behaving like this? In one word – caution. Investors are acutely aware that the talk from Europe may just be that, and when push comes to shove nothing may happen. And, in this case that is a very bad thing considering the fate of so many economies (both in Europe and elsewhere) hang in the balance. Whilst there are many different views, most economists agree that letting Greece slipe away may prove to be more costly than keeping it in the Eurozone. Thus, the market wants reassurances that ...
