Title: EUR/USD Cedes The 1.2624 Support
Sunrise Market Commentary - Fixed Income: Risk off pushes German bond yields to new lows - Risk off sentiment pushed core bonds higher and non-core bond yield spreads re-widened substantially. The Summit didn't bring new information, but another hole found in Spain's regions' budgets might get attention today. - Currencies EUR/USD cedes the 1.2624 support - On Wednesday, the EMU debt crisis was again omnipresent. Markets feared that the EU leaders wouldn't be able to take decisive action to address the debt crisis. Extreme risk aversion pushed EUR/USD to a new low for 2012. The losses of EUR/GBP were more contained, as poor UK retail sales and rather soft BoE minutes kept the door open for more policy stimulation. The Sunrise Headlines - In the final hour of trading, US ...

Title: Asia shares ease as weak China PMI, Greece risks weigh
(Reuters) - Asian shares eased on Thursday as markets were vulnerable to faltering factory orders in China and lack of concrete measures shown by European leaders to tackle the risk of Greece leaving the currency bloc. European Union leaders, at an informal meeting on Wednesday, said they wanted Greece to stay in the euro zone while respecting commitments it had made in return for its bailout, but have been advised by senior officials to prepare contingency plans in case Greece exits. The murky outlook for the euro zone and fears that the crisis could derail the global economy have prompted investors to park money in safe-haven assets such as U.S. and German government bonds, the U.S. dollar or cash. Implications of a retreat in China's HSBC Flash Purchasing Managers Index, the earliest ...

Title: Gold hovers about $1,560 an ounce; Greece fear persists

FUNDAMENTALS * Spot gold edged down 0.1 percent to $1,559.30 an ounce by 0049 GMT, after dropping to $1,533.41 in the previous session. * U.S. gold gained 0.7 percent to $1,559.30. * European Union leaders, advised by senior officials to prepare contingency plans in case Greece decides to quit the single currency, urged the country to stay the course on austerity and complete the reforms demanded under its bailout program. * Spain announced a 9-billion-euro ($11 billion) bailout for troubled lender Bankia on Wednesday, while also seeking ...

Title: Greek Debt Crisis: Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Highlights - An acceleration in deposit withdrawals, combined with the prospect of an anti-austerity party winning the next election, has brought to the fore concerns about a potential Greek exit from the euro zone. - Our base case assumption is that under the most likely scenario, the Greek election will lead to a government that sticks to an EU/IMF program, even if the terms are renegotiated. - However, we do believe that Greece needs a further restructuring of its debt and we do think the country will ultimately exit the euro - we're just not convinced that Europe is ready for this to happen at the moment. - If an accident does occur and Greece does leave the euro in the near term, it would have global financial ramifications that could range from severe to catastrophic. ...

Title: EUR/USD Rebound On Profit Taking
Sunrise Market Commentary - Fixed Income: limited profit taking on core bond markets - Global core bond markets fell prey to some profit taking in a thin, dull trading session. However, given the strength of equities, bond losses were very limited and occurred at the onset of trading. Today, the eco calendar remains thin and the profit taking might go some further in the run-up to tomorrow's informal EU Summit. - Currencies EUR/USD rebound on profit taking - The correction in EUR/USD was prolonged, but the euro gains were modest and mostly technical in nature. Title: Oil falls on euro zone worries, weak economic data
Brent crude oil slumped more than 2 percent on Thursday, touching the lowest price since December, as investors avoided risky assets due to mounting fears that turmoil in Greece could spread to other stressed euro zone economies. U.S. crude was down by less than Brent, which reduced Brent's premium against U.S. crude to below $15, from above $19 the previous session, as owners of the U.S. Seaway pipeline announced just after midday that its reversal was completed as expected. The initial flow of crude that will head for the main U.S. refining center in Houston was to occur by the weekend, a development aimed at easing the supply glut of U.S. crude at the delivery hub in Cushing, Oklahoma. Easing that glut should narrow the premium that Brent has enjoyed over U.S. crude. But market focus ...

Title: Euro zone fears starting to hit trade, financing
The euro zone debt crisis is affecting trade as companies shy away from dealing with firms and banks in countries deemed at risk of contagion, a senior banker said on Thursday. Tan Kah Chye, London-based global head of trade and working capital at Barclays Bank, said companies were recoiling from doing business on an open-account basis, whereby an exporter ships and delivers goods before the importer pays. An exporter can greatly reduce the risk attached to such 'buy now, pay later' transactions, which make up an estimated 80 percent of global trade, by buying a bank letter of credit. But Tan, speaking as chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce's commission on banking, said firms were also nervous about being exposed to banks away from the euro zone periphery that were at risk ...
