EU shares closed in green on global cheerful updates
CAC 40 Index
The French index climbed 77.43 points or 2.09% to finally close at 3787.19. The index started the session at 3737.77 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 3793.24 and its lowest level at 3736.91.
Best performing stocks within the index were the Total SA share which inclined 2.75% to settle at €74.76, in second place came the Sanofi SA share which closed higher by 2.91% at €43.74 and in the third place came the BNP Paribas SA share which inclined 2.17% to settle at €39.00.
The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Pernod-Ricard SA share as it plummeted 1.25% to end at €39.40, following is the EADS NV share as it shed 0.89% to settle at €99.11.
DAX Index
German equities advanced today as the benchmark index DAX 30 closed the session higher by 178.63 points or 2.32% at 7870.31. The index started the session at 7779.62 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 7883.60 and its lowest level at 7772.33.
Best performing stocks within the index were the Daimler AG share which inclined 5.82% to settle at €17.99, in second place came the Deutsche Post AG share which closed higher by 3.33% at €34.26 and in the third place came the Deutsche Bank AG share which inclined 3.72% to settle at €46.66.
The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Fresenius SE & Co KGaA share as it plummeted 0.57% to end at €95.42.
FTSE 100 Index
The British benchmark index ended the day higher to settle at 6431.95 with a gain of 86.32 points or 1.36%. The index started the session at 6345.63 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 6437.34 and its lowest level at 6344.78.
Best performing stocks within the index were the BHP Billiton PLC share which inclined 3.69% to settle at £3438.50, in second place came the Rio Tinto PLC share which closed higher by 6.78% at £1174.00 and in the third place came the Xstrata PLC share which inclined to £2107.50.
The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Centrica PLC share as it plummeted 0.54% to end at £1461.00, following is the SSE PLC share as it shed 1.50% to settle at £334.00, while coming in third is the Intu Properties PLC share which slumped 0.25% to close at £360.50.
